Are the Foursquare Hoffman Pants good snowboarding pants?

Friday, January 1st, 2010

http://www.dogfunk.com/dogfunk/FSQ0334/Foursquare-Hoffman-Pant-Mens.html -here are the pants
I ride about 7 or more times a season not including a big 2-7 day trip every year. I ride in PA unless I am on a trip. Will these pants keep me warm and dry? How do they compare to other brands? Also i know that pants with gore tex are the best but that’s not what i am looking for.

Hi again ;)

Yes those are great pants, 15,000/10,000 plus they’re insulated. Absolutely killer deal too, those are normally about $200.

I have the Baraveto’s, which are similar but no insulation and a I love them. Foursquares run fairly big so keep that in mind. I’m 6′5" 210lbs. and the large fit me just fine, plenty of length.

These pants will be completely waterproof for all intents and purposes unless you blatantly sit in puddles all day. Don’t worry about gore tex.

Is just a thermal/Under Armour enough to wear under snowboarding jacket and pants?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I am kinda new to snowboarding, last year I wore leggings and long pants, and lots of shirt layers. This year, I am upping my gear-I plan on getting maybe a Burton or such coat and pants. Since these are much better insulated, I was wondering if just a thermal shirt and leggings/pants(like Hot Chillys or Under Armour) would be enough underneath the jacket and pants? No other layers? I would love to just wear this, I don’t get cold too easily and hate feeling bulky…

its hard to answer because the weather can be light or pretty damn cold. for the most part i wear under armour or leggings under my snow pants and if it gets too cold i’ll add sweat pants.

for my coat when its beginning or late season i’ll wear just a tshirt underneath. once it gets colder i’ll wear under armour and a sweatshirt. but it all depends on the weather.
in general under armours perfect!

Snowboarding/ ski pants in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Where can I but snow pants that are fitted, smooth, and waterproof? As in I ski, but they don’t have to be that high and with the suspenders… they can be like Snowboarding Pants, but I want them to be fitted and waterproof- not big bulky pants like most are. Do you know of any stores in the SF bay area that contain those kind of pants for a decent price?

go to any mountain, i bought all my Snowboarding Gear over there including my jacket and pants. i went the day after thanksgiving and they had huge sales. they should probably have good sales rite now considering christmas just ended

Dryride Durashell in the Lucky Snowboard Pants from Burton equals warmth, dryness, and protection from the elements. The Lucky pants are coated with waterproof/breathable properties that still result in a soft, affordable package. The Wrapture Lining System is engineered to work with your body by using different materials in different zones to provide the perfect amount of breathability, warmth, and comfort. Every seam in the Lucky pants are taped to give you the ultimate foul weather seal. How are Bonfire snowboarding pants?

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

I know they make good jackets, what about pants? FYI im thinking about buying the Bonfire Fusion pants. I was also thinking Volcom, 686 or Salomon. Any recommendations? I usually buy from surf shops and i live on the east coast, so yeah i need stuff that retains water but im not going to spend a ton of money on stuff like gore-tex .

Bonfire makes great gear all around. However, I think the Fusion might only be 5K waterproofing? Look for the waterproofing and breathability ratings on all outerwear you are thinking of purchasing. 8K to 10K is usually what I look for when I am buying. I know sometimes the higher ratings are going to accompany pants that cost more, but it will be worth it. Also, look for leg vents, you will be thankful on warm spring days. I own a few pair of Bonfire pants, Last year I purchased the ARC pant that was 10K waterproofing and 8K breathability. My girlfriend has had really good luck with 686 pants as well.

I am not familiar with Volcom’s outerwear, however I have had good luck with their street clothes and wakeboard gear.

Salomon and Bonfire are part of the same company (I think they still are) so the quality "should" be pretty similar.

Have a good season.
