Is the burton king 167 big enough for me?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

I am tall (6′7) 195 lbs with a size 15 foot. I am looking into buying my own board and bindings and was looking into the burton king. The width of the 167 is 26.5. Is this wide enough for my feet? Also what size bindings do I need to get because Burton only makes bindings up to large. Do I need to go with a different brand of bindings or will the large burtons do ok?

That board sounds too big – I think at 195lbs you would only be riding a 161 to 163 board depending on what type of rinding you do.

I would recommend a Ride Fleetwood board (much cheaper than Burton and just as good) with a binding that has a built-in riser to give you more heel / toe clearance.

Good Luck

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton at San Diego Comic Con ‘09

Johnny Depp surprises the audience after Tim Burton shows us new trailers for ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

If this doesn’t come up in HQ, just add &fmt=18 to the end of the url, and hit return. THEN it will. Don’t ask me why. Ask YouTube.

Sorry about the shaky video. Even though I had a feeling he might show up, (well, hoped) I wasn’t quite prepared. =D

Thanks for Watching!

Is the Cap strap on Burton bindings comfortable and needed?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

I want to get either the Burton mission or Burton Freestyle.
Missions have the cap strap and freestyles don’t.
I know Missions have more response. I just want to know if the cap strap is comfortable.

Capstraps are fairly comfortable, but whether to get one or not does depend on your type of riding to an extent.

Try on the bindings either by rent or just in the store with your boots. I’ve ridden Missions before but have decided to go with a Rome binding because of various reasons, including the fact that I didn’t really want a capstrap. They’re not neccesarry, but if you think it’s comfortable then go for it. They were more of a scheme to bring out something new–you don’t need more support pushing on your toes, in a way it kind of restricts your ability to carve with ease.

If you’re worried about them, do what you can to try them out before you buy.
