Which would you rather wear Element or Volcom and why?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Doing research on why teens wear shirts with logos advertising for clothing companies that don’t pay them for all the work they do.

ok, i’m going to try to address both the subjects you brought up here. here we go.

i don’t choose my clothes based on brand name. i choose them on whether or not they’re cute and look good on me. i have both element AND volcom clothes, and i definitely didn’t choose them based on the brand.

as for why teens wear shirts with logos? because they look cool i guess. the logos for companies like element and Volcom tend to be designed to look cool. they’re generally mixed in with a cool design. my friend has a really cool volcom sweatshirt where the brand is mixed in with a bunch of kites. it’s rad. she doesn’t wear it because it says volcom on it, she wears it because the sweatshirt is tight. the clothing companies design the shirts so that kids will pay to wear them, not so that they can pay kids to wear them. if a teenager likes a clothing company, then they will gladly wear a shirt to get the name of the company out there. it means that the clothing company is doing a good job of impressing a large audience if you see a bunch of kids wearing shirts with that logo.

and its not work for someone to wear a shirt. i’m wearing 3 right now and i’m not even breaking a sweat. :)

Snowboarding/ ski pants in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Where can I but snow pants that are fitted, smooth, and waterproof? As in I ski, but they don’t have to be that high and with the suspenders… they can be like Snowboarding Pants, but I want them to be fitted and waterproof- not big bulky pants like most are. Do you know of any stores in the SF bay area that contain those kind of pants for a decent price?

go to any mountain, i bought all my Snowboarding Gear over there including my jacket and pants. i went the day after thanksgiving and they had huge sales. they should probably have good sales rite now considering christmas just ended

Would there be a size difference for boots and bindings between Burton and Salomon?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I’m planning to get maybe Relay E/Antidote bindings (Any ideas on which one to get?) and the F22W boots from Salomon, with the Burton Feather. I was just wondering if the bindings would fit with the board? And if say, size 7/8 boots with the Medium bindings?

My shoe size is about 8 and I really don’t have anywhere to go try on the boots or the bindings, so I’m kind of stuck on terms of knowing what size I need. I’m just starting out boarding and have only gone a couple times, but I’m getting a season pass up to one of the local mountains and planning on going lots later on.

Any additional info you need just ask. Thanks!

You should never buy snowboard boots without first trying them on. If you plan to buy them online then you should try them in a snowboard shop first. Having the boots fit properly is really important it’ll affect your riding and your feet will get tired and sore and you won’t have as much fun. So try to go to a snowboard shop and get someone to help you find a boot size that fits right.

With Snowboards and bindings there isn’t usually any problems with fit/compatibility so you won’t have a problem there.
edit: oh yeh, i forgot about the base plates, the bit that attaches the binding to the board. Burton do have a different hole arrangement on the board, but some bindings do come with replacement base plates to fit Burton boards, just ask the shop person when buying the board/bindings.

With boots and bindings it is best to try them together to see if they fit properly (you’ll have to go to a shop for this aswell). However, most of the time this shouldn’t be an issue, just make sure you get the right sized bindings for your boots.

If you really can’t get to any snowboard shops off the mountain, you could wait till you go to the ski mountain and buy your entire setup there, that way you’ll have the correct sizes and get some professional advice on your gear. However, i highly recommend you go to a snowboard shop off mountain before your trip that way you can take your time to think about which gear you really want. Also board shops off mountain tend to be cheaper then ones on mountain.

how to get rid of the smell of snowboard jacket collar?

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

the collar (the part that goes over the mouth) of my snowboard jacket smells really bad from being wet all the time, and possibily from my spit.

i tried febreeze, that just made it smell like febreeze + the wet smell.
I dont want to use detergent on the whole jacket cuz i remember you are not suppose to because it would cut ruin the waterproofing.
So i used detergent on just the collar then rinsed it, but the weird smell still lingers.

is there any natural stuff i can use? like lemon mixed with water or something……….

also, if anyone know how to get rid of the smell of wet snowboard boot liners, please let me know.

thanks!
thanks for the answers…………I know about Nikwax and washing and all that, but my question is just about the COLLAR part.
I have tried washing the whole jacket but the collar still kinda smells.

to Nephroid:
its really wet here in the northwest, so we need the waterproofing ;)

Unless they’re stained, I typically wash my jacket once at the end of every season before putting it away. I just follow the instructions on the tag which say to use powdered laundry detergent.

I ussually just hang it to dry and then waterproof it with a spray at the beginning of next season. I’ve never used the wash-in waterproofing so I can’t say if it works well or not.

In general I don’t really seem to need that waterproofing all that much though. Maybe in the spring when it gets really slushy. In fact this season, I may have forgotten to waterproof my jacket at all, and I didn’t really notice.

In the future you might want to consider getting a face mask, baklava (sp?), or bandana to put over your mouth. That way you can keep the goobers off your collar and just throw it in the wash at the end of every day.

Where can I get cheap plastic snowboards from?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I bought 2 from Sports World last year. They are about 1-1.5 metres long and cost roughly £10 and I can’t find them again.
They are good for taking on Southport beach to be towed by a mate in a car or for going down sand hills.
I don’t earn enough to buy anything wholesale and I have checked ebay, not there.

Keep brainstorming people.
The "X-Treme" on the target website are nearly spot on. Unfortunately I am in the UK and they don’t ship here. If you know who makes them I might be able to find them here.

What should i wear for a group interview at zumiez and what questions will they ask?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

i have an interview at zumiez tomorrow and needed help on what to wear to the interview and wanted to know what kind of questions they ask. thanks

Hey, I’m actually an Assistant Manager at a Zumiez in Pa. Listen go into this interview confident. The manager is going to look for the most OUTGOING people there. You wear whatever you want to. This isn’t a company that is going to judge you on what you wear. If you have a full sleeve tattoo than whatever man rock that. If you have a Mohawk then right on. Just be YOURSELF. This is a serious company, we’re professional, but we also like to have fun. So be outgoing and just be yourself. GOOD LUCK!!!! Give me a shout and let me know how it goes if you’d like…

What is the volcom t-shirt called that Ryan Sheckler is wearing in the second episode of "Ryans Life?"

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Ryan and his friend Tony were wearing the same shirt on different colors while they were on the beach.
Every shirt has some sort of name so that you can find it. kind of like a model name. So does anyone know the name of it or where to find it?

it was etnies
